India Vs Australia First Test – Day Four

At the tea of forth day of first test between India and Australia is on 74 for 2 and gained lead of 144 runs. This test is going towards an draw, and Ricky Ponting faced a tough decision on how much time his team would need to dismiss India a second time.

Michael Hussey was immediately able to get the score ticking when he came to the crease but his partner Simon Katich had major trouble getting off strike. At one stage when both men were on 10, Katich had faced 75 balls to Hussey’s 18. It was a potential problem for Australia, who were batting on a tricky pitch but wanted their runs more quickly.

Sensing the tension, India attacked at every opportunity, with Mahendra Singh Dhoni calling the shots for most of the session as Anil Kumble was off the field with what was believed to be a shoulder injury. It meant Kumble would be unable to bowl until nearly an hour after tea, so the spin duties fell on Harbhajan Singh, who got the odd ball to spin sharply and was significantly more dangerous than in the first innings.
