Match set-up: After a terrible start to the tournament, the Mumbai Indians are on the verge of a record sixth consecutive win. The little master’s presence seems to have boosted the team: two thumping wins against Chennai and Kolkata have seen them move to the fourth spot on the table. They start favourites against the Chargers who have been the most under-performing team of the tournament. Chargers are effectively out of contention for the semi-finals which means they will only play for pride.

Mini-Battle: Adam Gilchrist had the better of Pollock the last time these two teams met. Pollock was dispatched to all parts of the ground as Gilchrist blasted his way to the fastest century. Pollock has since been extremely difficult to get away and whether he will be able to control Gilchrist remains to be seen.

Star Watch: The home team is out of the tournament but the crowds will throng to the stadium to see the little master in action. He failed to impress in his first two games but it’s only a matter of time before normal service resumes.

Team News: Andre Nel is the newest recruit for the Mumbai Indians but it looks unlikely he should get a game until after Bravo leaves. Mumbai are likely to go in with the same team.

With Deccan out of the tournament, Gilchrist might like to bring in some of the untested players.

Previous Encounter: Gilchrist blitzed his way to the fastest century as the Deccan Chargers won by ten wickets when these teams last met. Mumbai are no longer the same team and Deccan will have to play out of their skins to repeat that feat.
