IPL 40th Match Results – Game reduced to 11 overs- Kings XI Punjab won by 6 runs

Well, friends… everything happened in this game. It started off with rain delaying the start but after that the run-fest we got to witness was an absolute eye-candy.

Virender Sehwag and Gambhir went hammer and tongs initially and just when we thought, that we might see some enthralling action, it started pelting down.

Calculations and re-calculations took place and the game was shortened to an 11 overs-a-side contest. Delhi never got going after that blitzkrieg and Punjab certainly pulled things back. It was all Punjab after the rain break. Wickets tumbled but the runs kept flowing too. That one decision from Virender Sehwag proved to be a blunder, he came on to bowl and gave away 22 vital runs and that made all the difference. Well, that was not the only difference, that last ball six from Jayawardene delivered the knock out punch as they say. Would have been a tie otherwise. Loads of drama, action, rush of adrenalin, this is what you want to see and feel during a Twenty20 game.

The IPL is already a blockbuster and from now on, it can only get bigger and better. What a thriller of an match.

Mahela Jayawardene is the Man of the Match for his blistering cameo of 36 from 17 balls. That six he hit off the last ball from Bhatia’s over made the difference. Would have been a tie otherwise!

Virender Sehwag bags the DLF Maximum Sixes award.
